'it's KARMA!', by Biff Games, is exactly what it says it is:
"a light, family & friends, strategy & chance board game for everyday playing, parties and game nights or maybe as a filler for those serious gamer sessions"
It is not one of these pretentious board games pretending to be what it isn't.
In the game, your objective is to go from the start to the finish .. but hang on that sounds easy enough, right? Think again!
Players: 2-6 Ages: 6+ Game Time: 15-45 mins
You have to keep your wits in the game, as there are 4 large Karma pieces that you or your opponents can move to hinder the path for you and the other players. Be careful though, as you can also get yourself in trouble doing so. Hence, instant #Karma...
There are many ways in the game to quickly outmanoeuvre your friends and get out in front of the other players to make your way to the finish, but then again there are a lot of ways to lose your progress just as fast as you gained it!
Karma is a b****
'it's KARMA' in this instance is a new little favourite game that has found its way into my heart.. It has the childish reminiscence of Snakes and Ladders with strategic elements of Othello. A joy to play with strategic subtleties that keep you going back for more.. minutes to learn, a lifetime to master..
I look forward to introducing this to friends after the Covid restrictions improve here in the UK. In the meantime, I will continue to play the 2-player rules... I can imagine 6-player being loads of fun.. It's great for all ages as it's so easy to learn.
The board is colourful and the dice are good quality. However, the play pieces may be the only element that I dislike, specifically the feel of the material however they work and this is maybe me and a texture thing!
On the flip side, the box is stunning.. when it arrived I was really careful as I did not want to scuff the matt black finish.. and the dice / piece bag is a really nice touch too..
Overall, I give this game a solid 4 out of 6; a good all-rounder and certainly doesn't take long to learn. Some of my friends who love quick warm-up games will love this! I love it too...
Thanks @itskarma_theboardgame for sending us this pre-production copy! The Kickstarter is live and can be backed here. I urge you to check it out..
